We are pleased to announce that Susanne Davis has agreed to join the Board of Directors of The Charlotte News.
With Margery’s arrival on the board, and her appointment to the treasurer’s position, we say goodbye to Ted LeBlanc, who held the position for the past two years.
For several years now, we’ve used two organizations to publish and sustain the paper. Our donors send their tax deductible gifts to Friends of the Charlotte News a nonprofit, 501(c)3 organization which in turn, makes grants to The Charlotte News, the organization that publishes the paper.
Some years ago, I attended the annual volunteer’s night, hosted by the Selectboard at town hall. The room was filled by Charlotte volunteers, serving on the dozens of committees, commissions and boards that contribute so much to the civic life of Charlotte.
Over the past two months at The News, we have listened to many voices from our community and beyond. These are people who care passionately about local news, and are strong and thoughtful supporters of our 63 year-old paper.
As many of our readers know, in March former Charlotte News editor Chea Waters Evans and this paper parted ways following months of Evans’ controversial reporting on alleged conflicts of interest at the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
We are pleased to announce that Mara Brooks is joining the paper as our Editor, effective immediately.
