Towards the end of last year, I spent a couple of evenings sifting through records of the Charlotte Grange, pulling together photographs to map out how the Grange Hall has changed over the years and adapted to new uses.
Another Grange milestone reached
The Charlotte Grange Hall marked its 150th anniversary this year. Of course, no celebrations were possible, as the Hall has been closed since March. The last event held was a popular afternoon concert featuring a group of young musicians taught by Pete Sutherland and Oliver Scanlon.

After applying for several grants and now having been super successful in being awarded not one but two grants this year, the Grange is now busy meeting the requirements on the first one so that Slater Construction can begin the work on the beautiful, inside schoolhouse windows on the first floor. We are pleased to be able to work again with a local contractor on this project. You should be seeing activity on this project this summer.
Big news at the Charlotte Grange
Even though our entire world has turned upside down with COVID-19 and everything has either stopped, slowed down or totally changed, some things continue on their merry way. And at the Charlotte Grange, although our building is closed and we are not hosting any events, some things are still happening.
A Tribute to Mike Walker and Three Young Musicians
Over the last couple of years, Mike Walker of Charlotte has been putting in a Herculean effort to promote and sustain interest in the live local music scene in Charlotte and nearby towns.
