The Charlotte Grange #398 will hold its annual spring rummage sale on Friday, April 27, and Saturday, April 28. For the Grange to hold this very popular event, we need willing volunteers to help us accept donations, set up the sale and staff the two sale days. It has been a very busy beginning to the year 2018 for our local Charlotte Girl Scout Troop 30066. The cookie sale – Girl Scout cookie sales began on the first of January, as many of you are aware of, since a number of you had young Daisy, Brownie or Junior Girl Scouts braving the sometimes frigid temperatures to knock on your doors in anticipation of making a cookie sale.
A Brush With Nature: Landscape Paintings by Lillian Kennedy will open March 4th from 4-7 pm at All Souls Interfaith on Bostwick Farm Road in Shelburne. The show will also be open to the public Tues – Fri from 8:30 – 4:30.

Community Bank N.A. presents the 2017 Special Olympics Vermont Holiday Games December 10 at St. Michael’s College and Spare Times Lanes in Colchester. Nearly 500 athletes and Unified partners will compete in swimming, floorball, and bowling.
The Shelburne Charlotte Garden Club will hold its annual holiday potluck brunch on Tuesday, December 12, at the Shelburne Methodist Church. At 10 a.m.

Worship services and lighting the Advent wreath – Messiah Sing, Dec. 3, 4 to 5 p.m. Musicians from the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and the Burlington Chamber Orchestra will gather at the Charlotte Congregational Church for a rendition of Handel’s Messiah.
After several seasons of the Internet Cat Video Festival, Homeward Bound and Town Hall Theater are changing things up and offering a film festival on Saturday, Nov. 25, devoted entirely to dogs. The Bow Wow Film Festival is a traveling, dog-centric film festival that celebrates, educates, and inspires all things doggie through the art of short film.

The event attracted more than 150 people who enjoyed the first-ever Charlotte Volunteer Fire and Rescue Services Public Safety Day on Saturday, Oct. 21. Children jumped and squealed when the DHART helicopter landed on the Town Hall Green, but the day was educational for all ages. Attendees also enjoyed an obstacle course, Vermont State Police K-9 demonstrations with the amazingly smart Kimbra, and fire safety live training. And Charlotte was even recognized as a HeartSafe Community.
Transition Charlotte will host a Repair Cafe on Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Charlotte Congregational Church. Repairs include, clothing, knitting, correcting tension on sewing machines, tool and knife sharpening, small appliances, small electronics, smart phone tutoring, bicycles, small furniture, lamps, cords, etc. Please let us know what you’re bringing so we can be prepared. Thursdays at 3:15 p.m. through December 21: Coding Club. Beginners will learn to code with Scratch through guided video lessons to make their own simple games. Members with more experience will plan and create their own using skills they’ve learned. Chromebooks and earbuds provided or BYO. For 4th grade and up. Registration required. The 17th Annual East Charlotte Tractor Parade was held on Oct. 8. Food vendors, a petting zoo and more were set up. More than 100 tractors rolled passed Spears Corner Store this year.
