Ricin danger at Wake Robin is under control – The resident at Wake Robin, who manufactured the toxic drug ricin and tested it on at least three neighboring residents to determine whether it had the desired poisonous effect before using it on herself, has been removed from the residence and is in custody awaiting trial.

Charlotte Girl Scouts off to a busy beginning

Last year the girls started working on a 12 patch program called “A Year in the Life of Juliette Gordon Low.” Juliette was the founder of the Girl Scouts when it began in the year 1912, and these patches are all designed around activities that she found to be of importance to her. Having already earned four of those 12, the girls came back this fall ready to begin working on the next one, Promote Our Promise, which requires them to learn about how to design and deliver a public service announcement.

Town Plan proceeds

In a harmonious and productive first public meeting on the Town Plan on Monday, December 11, the Charlotte Selectboard and the town’s assembled citizens reached consensus that the plan would be voted on at Town Meeting, 2018.

All you children get your lists ready. Santa Claus is making a pit stop at the Charlotte Fire and Rescue on Sunday, December 10th from 1pm – 3pm. He will be visiting our volunteer fire fighters and Rescuers. They have been very, very good and he decided that they deserved a visit. Meet Adrianna LaClair, new probational firefighter

When Adrianna comes to CVFRS for training nights on Wednesdays, she always brings her big smile and quick laugh. She was born in Burlington and grew up alongside her brother who recently moved to New Hampshire. Her dad, who makes hundreds of customers happy at Curtis Lumber, and her mom, who has run a day care for 32 years, have been married 34 years. Adrianna thinks of them as great role models.

Meet Marc Hachey

Marc was born in Winthrop, Maine, in 1994 and is the eldest of two boys. His father is a chemical engineer for a paper company. His mother, who must be a very special individual, is a teacher of children with challenging behavioral needs. Marc’s fondest memories as a child were waterskiing and being out on the lake with his brother and father.

New England Cross Country results find CVU women among the top four teams – The “Belles” of Belfast, Maine, over the weekend of Nov. 10 turned out to be the women’s cross country team from Pinkerton Academy, Derry, New Hampshire. Vermont’s top team from CVU missed stepping to the podium by one place, finishing fourth among the 29 teams entered from across New England.
