Last Tuesday, The Charlotte News, along with the Grange and the Charlotte Public Library, hosted its annual Meet the Candidates night, where four Selectboard candidates answered questions posed by the community.
The Selectboard is holding a Zoom informational meeting on Monday, March 1 to discuss the items on this year’s ballot ahead of Tuesday’s Town Meeting Day vote.
With more than 100 attendees, Tuesday’s Meet the Candidates Night Zoom event proved that even a snowstorm and the coronavirus can’t stop Charlotters from civic engagement.
Thanks to the generosity of Charlotte voters, the Town has allocated $57,000 to build the next section of trail.
The Selectboard tackled topics from picnic tables to open-space tax refunds and everything in between on Monday night.
The big questions on everyone’s minds these days are when? And how? It looks as though they will not be answered for at least a while. While Gov. Scott has extended the quarantine to May 15, that is very possibly not going to be the final word on the topic. Is Vermont really looking at a re-opening day in May? Or June? Or sometime after that? No one knows for sure at the moment.
Monday’s Selectboard meeting ushered in a new era: a virtual meeting option for those not attending in person.
