Jen Novak first started thinking about opening a home design and décor store last February, but when the pandemic hit, she put her plans on hold. With things looking up, Novak decided now was the time and opened the Gilded Elephant at Charlotte Crossing in mid-April.
The friendly signs advertising sandwiches for the ferry and pulled BBQ pork are coming down. The Little Garden Market on Ferry Road, one of Charlotte’s few retail outlets, has been dark since early May, its doors locked shut. According to owner Rick Benson, “Suffice to say that the store is permanently closed.”
The Philo Ridge Farm Market, located on the corner of Hinesburg and Mt. Philo roads, opened on July 6 and has been steadily and happily welcoming members of Charlotte and its surrounding communities since.
