The Friends of the Lyceum Schoolhouse proudly announce their commitment to supporting the restoration of the historic Lyceum Schoolhouse, now the home of the Charlotte Grange.
The Charlotte Grange Hall marked its 150th anniversary this year. Of course, no celebrations were possible, as the Hall has been closed since March. The last event held was a popular afternoon concert featuring a group of young musicians taught by Pete Sutherland and Oliver Scanlon.
The Charlotte Grange applied for and was selected to receive not one, but two grants this year. The first, from Historic Preservation of Vermont, is dedicated to taking the eight large schoolhouse windows on the main floor and restoring
It’s that time again …. time for the annual Fall Rummage Sale at the Charlotte Grange! The last day to drop off your items to donate to the sale is today, Thursday, Oct. 3, between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Please no humidifiers, dehumidifiers, electronics or textbooks; we will take only a limited number of clean books. Clean clothes, dishes, household items, toys are always welcome!
For many years, the Charlotte Grange was an important part of our farming community, and membership included entire families. The Grange was not only a place where neighbors shared news, compared notes on what was happening on their particular farms, discussed issues that affected their lives and talked about possibilities for change both on a state and/or federal level, it was also an important part of their social life.
