Music at Shelburne Vineyard

Virtual Owl Friday

Jean Francois Therrien, a senior scientist at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, has studied the movement ecology of snowy owls on a continental scale. Classical piano concert

The Charlotte Congregational Church hosts Burlington-based pianist Claire Black for her performance “Poetic Unity.” Black returns for several area concerts after a two-year absence. Try a telescope
Friday, April 8, 7:30–9 p.m.
Hinesburg’s Carpenter-Carse Library has a telescope which patrons may borrow, much like taking out a book. A member of the Vermont Astronomical Society will give a tutorial on how the telescope may best be used. If weather permits, the group goes outside for hands-on experience of the heavens. Not only is it the opening day of Vermont’s trout season, but it’s opening day of pickleball season at the Charlotte beach courts. It’s a fast game, guaranteed to make you laugh and have fun. Greg Smith is a welcoming coach; lessons and equipment provided for newcomers starting at 10 a.m. on Saturdays. That’s where you’ll learn about the kitchen. Natural resource planning

The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department joins the Vermont Natural Resources Council for a free webinar on town plan changes, competing values and natural resource issues that most towns face. These two departments have completed their decennial review of every town plan, including zoning, subdivision and ordinance information, in Vermont. The Clemmons Family Farm and Catamount Arts in St. Johnsbury collaborate for an evening of stand-up comedy, hip hop and poetry with Vermont-based performer Omega Jade. Jade is part of the Facing the Sunrise Black Performing Arts Series and is a teaching artist at Clemmons Family Farm in Charlotte. Earth Day teen retreat

Spaces are available for teens to attend a rejuvenating retreat at NorthernShire in Underhill. The ReTribe organization hosts programs for adults, teens and children at this intentional community with a hostel, shared spaces, dorms, woods, pond, gardens and trails. Shine a Healing Light

A collaborative workshop will be held over four weeks at the Charlotte Congregational Church. Through art, writing and personal creative expression, event participants share their perspectives over two years of the pandemic. ‘No Other Lake’ movie

In 2021, University of Vermont student Jordan Rowell set out on a two-week kayak trip along 120-mile-long Lake Champlain. The resulting conservation/adventure documentary celebrates the beauty of Lake Champlain and highlights some of its challenges.
