Library asks for bond support
The Charlotte Library is ready to grow, and after three years of planning, supporters are ready to shift their efforts into high gear. At the request of the Selectboard, the library’s Bond Committee presented a proposal to the board on Dec. 17 to secure support for a $700,000 municipal bond, which would be presented to voters on Town Meeting Day in March.
Charlotte Library receives funding to develop youth coding programs
The Charlotte Library announced yesterday that it has received $500 from the American Library Association (ALA) to help plan and implement coding activities during Computer Science Education (CS Ed) Week 2018 (December 3-9) and beyond.

Summer Story Time – Reading Fun at Adam’s Berry Farm – Tuesday, July 31 at 9:30 a.m. Meet us at the farm for a summer of berries, great stories, gardening and busy activities. All ages are welcome.
Good books for hot times
Wow, it’s been a hot few days. It’s very nice to have the temperatures back to a more livable range, don’t you agree? Today I hiked Camel’s Hump for the first time (I’m embarrassed to say – not that I hiked the mountain, but that it is the first time—I won’t tell you how long I’ve lived here.), and it was out-of-town friends who lured me up there. I’m a bit exhausted, but it’s time to talk once again about books, so here goes.

Thursday, May 31, at 3:15 p.m. THINK Tank: Paper Circuits. Make light-up circuits on a piece of paper! Conductive tape, a battery and LEDs will light up your card or folded paper creation. The Seed Library is open! Stop by the table at the Charlotte Library to join up. You’ll get to select some prime seeds to try in your vegetable garden and be part of the food community here in Charlotte and beyond.

The Charlotte Library is happy to announce the opening of our 2018 Seed Library and invites both experienced and new gardeners to become members. The project is intended to encourage and support our community’s home food producers and seed savers.

IBRARY CARD EXPIRATION REMINDER – All Charlotte Library cards expire on January 31, 2018. In order to use your card at other Homecard libraries, it must have an up-to-date sticker. Please stop by with card for a new sticker and you’ll be good until January 31, 2021!

Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 3:15 p.m.: AFTERSCHOOL WORKSHOP: Gifts for Pets. It’s holiday time and you have no gifts for your pets? If it’s special cats, dogs or birds, we’ll take care of the pets on your list with homemade treats and toys at the Charlotte Library. Grades 2 and up. Registration required.

What do you do when there’s a power outage in town? Come to the library! We welcomed over 120 people to the Charlotte Library on Monday, Oct. 30, following the wind storm that swept through town. Telecommuters checked their email side-by-side with students finishing up homework, while LEGO creations and train table time occupied the youngest visitors. Coffee and good cheer were shared by all!
