A group gathered on Memorial Day in Grandview Cemetery behind Charlotte Congregational Church to remember those who died in the military defending the United States. Combat veteran Jordan Paquette asked that, during the day’s holiday fun, everyone take time to remember the ultimate sacrifice so many have paid to preserve democracy.
After the ceremony, people pitched in to replace the flags on veterans’ graves with new ones.
Sarah Stein and Oliver Smith leant a solemn mood to the ceremony by playing “Taps.”
