Julia Russell has been a board member since April 2023 and leads the work of the digital committee. She was appointed chair in January 2024.

Julia worked at the University of Vermont for 27 years, before retiring from her position as the associate chief information officer where her responsibilities included overseeing the University of Vermont’s Enterprise Technology Services group.

Julia holds an Ed.D. from UVM, an MBA from Boston University, and a BA from Dartmouth. She has volunteered at the Charlotte Library, with the Vermont Refugee Resettlement Program, the Green Mountain Athletic Association, Results, an anti-poverty advocacy group, and the Women in Science program at Dartmouth.

Julia moved to Charlotte in 1995 with her husband Charles and their three kids, Amanda, Katharine and Michael. She enjoys running, gym, reading, cooking, knitting, spinning and pickleball.

Julia writes, “As board chair, I’m looking forward to working with a strong and engaged board and, in conjunction with a talented and hardworking editor and staff, to building on recent accomplishments. I’m also looking forward to helping further strengthen the paper’s financial position and to diving into succession planning initiatives. Local news is vitally important to community health and I feel fortunate to be involved.”
