After years of work, the final two public comment hearings regarding proposed amendments to the Charlotte Town Plan and Land Use Regulations take place in the coming days. On Friday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 25 at 6 p.m, Charlotte residents will have their last opportunities before the Town Meeting Day vote to weigh in on potential LUR changes.
The land use regulation changes planned for public hearing at the Selectboard on Friday, and potential ballot item in March, stem largely from a three-meeting informal study done a decade ago (link below).
The Planning Commission held a special meeting Sept. 24 to mark up and approve a final draft of the Charlotte Land Use Regulations amendments. The purpose of the meeting wasn’t to develop policy, which has been in progress for the last year, but rather to identify and clarify any outstanding gray areas in language or policy.
The bulk of the July 13 Selectboard meeting was taken up with two issues: one a highway access permit request dispute that just won’t die and the other that has residents of Thompson’s Point chasing their tails.
Public comment was the theme at the July 16 Planning Commission meeting, where Charlotte residents had plenty to say about proposed changes for Land Use Regulations and about a sketch plan proposal for a four-lot subdivision on Mt. Philo Road.
The Thursday, March 5 Planning Commission meeting was the last for member David Kenyon while work continued on updates to the Charlotte Land Use Regulations.
