The Charlotte Tree Tribe is pleased to announce a new champion tree, one not previously on the Hamilton Roster
Every year or so the Charlotte Tree Tribe, under the leadership of Tree Warden Mark Dillenbeck, invites all Charlotters to help update the Hamilton Roster of Champion Trees, named in honor of former Charlotte tree warden Larry Hamilton.
One of Larry Hamilton’s enduring contributions to the Charlotte community was his champion tree roster, a list of the biggest trees of each species in Charlotte, whether on private or public property. The Charlotte Tree Tribe, under the leadership of Tree Warden Mark Dillenbeck, now once again invites all Charlotters to participate in the annual updating of that list.
Since the publication of the last Charlotte Big Trees update in late summer, the Tree Tribe has crowned two new champions: Patricia Lander’s Silver Maple measuring 164 inches in circumference at 826 Carpenter Road, and Matt Donaldson’s Burr Oak measuring 183 inches on Garen Road.
