Opera Vermont is performing Giuseppe Verdi’s “La Traviata,” one of the most beloved operas, at the Barre Opera House. The production will showcase the talents of internationally renowned Italian soprano Scilla Cristiano, making her American debut in the iconic role of Violetta Valéry. The opera features some of Verdi’s most instantly recognizable and emotionally stirring music, including the famous drinking song, the “Brindisi” (Libiamo ne’ lieti calici), a joyful toast that sets the stage for the passion and tragedy to come.
