Winning celebration

Champlain Valley Union High junior Thomas Murphy of Charlotte celebrates after winning the 182-pound state wrestling title on Feb. 25 at Vergennes High School. Although the Redhawks came in eighth as a team, ninth grader Camden Ayer took third place in the 120-pound class, sophomore Sean Maynard took sixth at 106 pounds and senior Ethan Varrichione took sixth at 152 pounds.

Coach Scott Bissonette is optimistic about his young team’s chances next year with only two wrestlers graduating.
