Never too busy for ‘The Charlotte News’
Sometime last week, we noticed folks switching from the question, “How is your summer going?” to “How was your summer?” We’ve heard several different answers, but one common theme: Many of us have been making up for lost time, traveling and seeing friends and family we hadn’t seen in years.
Even though our calendars are full, dozens of Charlotters have paused to support this nonprofit newspaper, the oldest community newspaper in the state. And people have been making gifts — large and small — to ensure the paper’s continued vibrancy. We can’t thank those people enough!
In fact, while many of us have been busy with hikes and barbeques and boat rides, The Charlotte News has hired several new writers, thanks to these donations. New writers mean new voices and quite possibly … new ideas.
If there’s any bad news here, it’s that all that summertime busy-ness has probably caused a few folks to forget to take care of our scrappy little nonprofit paper. After all, there are a lot of demands on your time and your money. And yet… this paper relies on donations to cover a sizable chunk of our budget. At the end of the day, we can’t pay some of our bills. “Close” counts in horseshoes, not in budgets. We’re closing in on our goal but still need to raise about $1,200 in the next six days.
Can you pitch in? If you’re a regular reader and can afford to throw a few dollars in the hat that we’re passing, you can rest assured that every dollar donated is put to work to produce a paper we can all be proud of.
Donating is certainly easy to do:
- Go to the donate page on this website, or
- Put your check in the mail to P.O. Box 251, Charlotte VT 05445.
Thanks for your support. Your donation makes a difference!
If you enjoy The Charlotte News, please consider making a donation. Your gift will help us produce more stories like this. The majority of our budget comes from charitable contributions. Your gift helps sustain The Charlotte News, keeping it a free service for everyone in town. Thank you.
