Champlain Valley Union High School junior Catherine Gilwee earned recognition as Athlete of the Year as reported in the June 20 Burlington Free Press. She was a first-team selection on the all-state basketball team for the second straight year and earned honorable mention on the all-state soccer team. She has committed to UVM basketball beginning in the fall of 2021. She and Makkena Boyd shared back-court duty in basketball. The two pulled CVU back from a second-half deficit to defeat Essex and remain undefeated for the season. She received high praise from both basketball coach Ute Otley and soccer coach Stan Williams.
